Mr. Lewis I want to thank you for providing the
pics to Lexington wed site. Mr. Louis, you have no idea how excided myself and
the rest of the family were to see the div. 5 crew of 21 on the deck of the
Lexington with my Dad in the middle of the back row. We had never seen this
photo before and had never expected to see him in a photo posted on a public
web site. Don't know if you were ever acquainted with my dad (Pedro Aguilar)
also known as "Pete" from San Antonio, TX. but if you like, you or Mr. Fullman
can email me @ aguilape@earthlink.net
and I can tell you more about what he did following his discharge from the
Lexington in 1945. When the Lexington was open to the public in Corpus Christi
my dad was too ill to make the visit. He passed away on 21 November 1994 at
the age of 81 years. I remember him telling me that he was little older then
most of his shipmates. I am an ex-sailor myself, but my time in the Navy was
spent on Destroyer (USS Power) from 1960-1962. A big thanks to you too Mr. Fullman
for giving me your email addresses.
Thanks to both of you for serving our country in a
time of need.
Thank you.
Pete Aguilar
Excellent website. Thanks to the contributor of the group photo to the Misc photo gallery because I found my Father pictured with 20 of his shipmates in this photo. He is the middle man in the back row. I was just as thrilled as anyone could be when I saw him in your website. PEDRO AGUILAR (better known as "Pete" by many of his friends) was an Aviation Ordnanceman PO3 and served on the Lexington CV-16 during the war from 1943 to 1945. He passed away a several years ago and I'm sure he would have enjoyed reading this site especially seeing himself pictured in this photo. Our family had never seen this picture before and thanks to this website, we now have a copy. As I read the ship's diary I could remember all the things he use to talk about and he was right on the mark about the timing and the events that happened during that time. Once again a big Thank You for this great website. Pete Aguilar, San Antonio TX. aguilarpe@earthlink.net
